This is how people used to live… but in just two short generations,
we’ve largely lost the skills that allowed humanity to survive!
Come and spend a day “re-wilding”, and reclaiming a small measure of autonomy
that is also highly respectful of the environment.
Firstly, we’ll explore the area around La Goose, foraging for wild edibles that will become part of our meal.
Then, we’ll come back to the kitchen to prepare our meal using what we’ve found.
Monica Blackhall is an herbalist and edible nature educator. Via her company « Nature Comestible », she helps people to re-discover local terrains, to identify wild plants at every stage of every season, and to transform certain plants into edible and/or medicinal products.
Above all, Monica is passionate about sharing the sense of freedom and autonomy that comes from a deep understanding of one’s immediate environment.
What to bring?
As we will be walking in the forest, we recommend that you bring…
- comfortable shoes for walking on variable terrain
- clothes that are light and layerable
- a basket or bag into which your wild edibles will go
- a water bottle
Jan Steele is owner and operator of La Goose, a 100% gluten-free Teaching Kitchen and Bed & Breakfast. A graduate of the Pacific Institute of Culinary arts, Jan is also a Nutritional Therapy Consultant specializing in auto-immune wellness. Her priority is serving anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense food. Edible nature is therefore an obvious and welcome addition to her ingredient list!
